What should I do when I first receive my texture mats?

Before first use it is advisable to clean the texture mat with washing up liquid and a small scrubbing brush. Make sure your texture is completely dry before use, air dry or use a hairdryer. During production although I clean them twice before shipping, some residue from the production process may be left on the texture.

How durable are your texture mats?

My texture mats are engineered for durability, allowing them to withstand repeated use without compromising their intricate designs. They are designed to maintain their quality over time, making them a reliable choice for jewellery makers.

Are your texture mats easy to clean and maintain?

Yes, my texture mats are designed for ease of maintenance. They can be easily cleaned after use with washing up liquid and a bristle brush ensuring that they remain in optimal condition for future projects.

What is the procedure for preparing my texture mat before each use?

Prior to rolling metal clay onto the texture mat, apply a release agent. Use olive oil sparingly, applying with a small brush and focusing on intricate areas. Avoid excessive use as it may impact clay functionality. Consider using badger balm or other compatible release agents as well.

What methods can be used to achieve optimal clay texture?

Once rolled, lay the clay to a card thickness of four to three cards on the primed texture mat. Apply even pressure from the middle, rolling up and from the middle down for an even texture. Deeper textures may require at least three cards thick.

When using a texture mat with thickness slats, place a texture mat smooth side up on each side of the texture mat you are rolling onto to achieve the correct depth in your clay piece and avoid your clay folding over the side.

You can press a snake roller onto the clay, applying even pressure and using your preferred thickness slats. Ensure your snake roller is lubricated. Apply the texture onto your clay and press the snake roller over it.

Avoid rolling your clay roller back and forth over the texture to prevent creating a double image.

How should I use my texture roller?

Texture rollers create a continuous pattern in your clay, thus they should be rolled onto your clay from one end to the other. You can roll to a larger area than necessary and then cut out your desired shape in the clay.

How should I clean my texture roller?

Upon receiving your texture roller, cleaning before use is unnecessary as it is cured resin, making it tough and durable. Post-use, scrub it with a hard brush and washing up liquid, then allow it to air dry.

How should I use my cutter?

Apply lubricant to the cutter's edges before cutting your shape with a small brush and olive oil or badger balm. Certain small cutters with deep impressions in clay may need to remain in the cutter while drying. Avoid drying your clay in the cutter with a hairdryer as this can compromise the integrity of cutters.
